Photographer Les Galantine (Steve Buscemi) has big dreams but he can not get access to the right party to shoot one of those exclusive pictures wanted by all media. While waiting for a celebrity to show up he meets Toby (Michael Pitt). Toby is a young homeless who came to New York looking for success as he wants to become an actor. Les makes him his assistant and offers him a place to stay and food. Toby falls in love with a singer K’Harmo Leeds (Alison Lohman). As Toby gets an acting job the rift between the two friends becomes bigger. Toby becomes a star and Les is looking for revenge.
